GAMERS

GAMERS is an experimental real-time videogame artwork set in an entirely procedurally generated world. The game invites audiences to play a game of spaceship tag. One ship escapes, the other follows. When left idle, the game plays itself in autopilot mode forever. But as soon as the user presses the throttle, manual mode is enabled and the chase is on.  

Objective: tag the ship as many times as you can to get a high score!  

Tag the ship by entering its hit box. Each tag earns 2 points and 1 turbo credit. Collect 10 turbo credits to enable TURBO boost for 2 seconds. Every 10 points, the level increments along with the difficulty. You lose 1 point for crashing and every second that the game is idle, your score decreases by 0.03 points, so keep playing to preserve your score!  

Token owners can submit their score to the GAMERS arcade leaderboard (www.gamers.gallery), which tracks the all-time high scores of all minted editions. Scores are stored off-chain but are associated with the minted token’s ID. Therefore, if a token is traded, its new owner also owns the high score associated with it, producing a secondary economy of high scores. Rank is not defined by features or rarity, but rather by players skill.  

Players:

• Press ‘w’ or click/tap anywhere for throttle (enables manual override).
• Double tap ‘w’ or double click/tap anywhere for TURBO boost (only when turbo meter is full).
• Press ‘a’ to roll left.
• Press ‘d’ to roll right.
• Arrow keys change direction (only during manual override).
• Press the spacebar to pause.
• Press 'h' to toggle the heads up display.
• Press 'g' to record a GIF.
• Press 'v' to save a screenshot.

Token owners:

• Press ‘1’ to connect your wallet (requires browser wallet).
• Press ‘2’ to submit your current score to the leaderboard.  

Tip: begin by slowly tapping the throttle to get a feel for the acceleration and let the autopilot help you steer!
