Strikes explores the way chaos lashes at order, and how both remain inseparable in nature and within ourselves. We build routines, make plans and find patterns in what surrounds us, while living with forces that can rearrange them at any moment.

Each composition begins with small cubes assembled into geometric bodies. Connections grow between them, forming a larger network. Repetition gives these structures a sense of stability, though gaps and variations make that stability imperfect from the start.

Winding paths sweep through the arrangement, disturbing the cubes nearest to them. Pieces shift, turn and scatter, while those farther away hold their positions. This uneven encounter shapes each work: areas of dense disruption coexist with passages where the original geometry is still clear. Order gives the impact of chaos something we can see and follow.

The scene is then translated into colour and painterly marks. Edges soften, surfaces break into strokes, and the precision of the underlying construction takes on a more physical texture. The tension between structure and disruption carries through from the composition to the smallest marks.

I’m drawn to this moment when something retains its shape while already becoming something else. Strikes reflects a condition we share with the natural world: whatever holds us together is continually being changed by what moves through us.
