Democracity is inspired by the diorama of the same name at the 1939 New York World's Fair which depicted a utopian city of the future. This piece satirizes the concept showing that the optimism of the 1930's did not account for the problems of the future brought about by climate change such as flooding. This piece is fully interactive with the best way to experience it being to explore and try to understand the stories that the different city layouts are trying to tell you. Note the cities are tileable meaning you can easily edit them together visually (Example: bit.ly/3yWCHvn). Democracity

Primordial presents forms as diverse as those found in the natural world. The emergent system powering Primordial is capable of generating this diversity but is hard to control. After the initial generation there is a curation step; forms must meet certain criteria or the algorithm replaces them.

The forms produced by Primordial are presented in a triptych, as comparing multiple outputs is fundamental to understanding a generative algorithm. Primordial attempts to generate triptychs where the individual forms are related, and the results can be surprisingly harmonious or discordant.

Once the triptych is finalized, click on one of the forms to redraw a previous image. Press s to save the entire triptych, or 1-3 to save an individual image.

This project is an exercise in simplicity, simulating stains of ink made through points and noise. 

Since creating art with code, I’ve wanted to reproduce the physical with the digital. 
Stains On A Canvas emerged from this desire to produce a hand-made canvas painting. 

Stains On A Canvas’s background textures use points or grids, and the algorithm explores the maximum difference between each iteration. The collection is divided into styles, named after popular flowers in my country [Brazil]. Colors are randomly generated to create unique tones paired with the variety of shades and shadows.

Stains on a Canvas

“Placement” is a generative system that creates hard-edge color field compositions by placing rectangles on a grid. Each compositional element is uniform in scale and can be derived from this relationship: the short side of the outer rectangle is equal in length to the long side of the inner rectangle. The blockchain determines the number of and arrangement of compositional elements. This inherent lack of control leads to surprising complexity or stark simplicity. This series explores how color influences our perception of space and how adjacent colors influence perceived color hues. Such work is inspired by the works on paper by Donald Judd. To this effect, 10% of the proceeds from primary sales will be donated to the Chinati Foundation. Furthermore, due to the recent oil spill in southern California, an additional 10% of the proceeds from primary sales will be donated to the Surf Rider Foundation in order to keep marine life safe and our beaches clean.

Placement

**FOCUS** is a 1000 image meditation, and it is my second release of Zen-inspired generative art, following [Ensō](https://www.artblocks.io/project/34).

This algorithm can produce images that are elegantly minimal, as well as images featuring complex patterns that explore visual illusions and artificial space. The limited palette consists of black, white, and five colors; this both constrains possible outcomes and allows the creation of unique perceptual interactions. Inspired by the Zen art tradition of doing more with less, FOCUS does not utilize any pseudo-random number generation, and each output can be recreated by hand using simple math, estimation, and dedication. Except in extremely rare scenarios, each token can provide a wide variety of visual experiences through its interactive features: use up and down arrows to adjust the pattern recursion factor, left and right arrows to adjust the midpoint count, ‘h’ to hide or show the central shape, and ‘s’ to save.
