Woah La Coaster is an exploration of simple yet emotive digital art. Each generative roller coaster aims to embody the same happy narrative that our inner child would experience at a summer carnival, surrounded by balloons in the daytime, beautiful skies in the afternoon, and glittering stars at night.

Inspired by visions of a wondrous childhood, background pallets are a pastel distillation of the best colors that a warm summer sky has to offer. Background elements, like hot air balloons, blimps and stars, utilise the vibrant primary colours that are found in the first box of pencils you would use as a child. The roller coaster itself harkens to a toy train set, carefully arranged on a fanciful track. These aspects merge into a single scene worthy of any kitchen fridge.

Cushions brings together image processing and generative art techniques. The latter provides the geometric structure, and the former creates the organic shapes. Every single pixel and its connectedness to other pixels are explicitly considered. Inspiration for the palettes ranges from digital illustrations and pastels to a nod to renowned artists and different ethnicities. The organic shapes and the textures within symbolize the beauty in our individual oddities. Some pieces evoke the semblance of fantastical dreams in starry nights. Some of the comfort and familiarity of home. Some of nostalgia and long-lost friends. Some of reasonable and grounded perspectives. Some of sparks, some of style, some of strength, and some of passion. Some of candy. Some of pop art. Some of modern interior design. And some of traditional Indian cushions, known as Takiya.

# can there be beauty in pain?
Flora, Fauna, False gods & Floods continues a theme I began in Beauty in the Hurting. When turbulent acts of god subvert best-laid plans, is there beauty in the broken images of life we leave behind?

Left alone, these images would resolve to nearly symmetrical dreamlike ink blots of meaning:  a flower, a feathered creature, or a figure of worship. In fact, what is most beautiful in their image may lay outside the frame. 

The final resting frame in each composition does not paint the whole picture. You must go looking for it. Interact with each composition by following the controls below.
