*Arcadia* is a homage to the fridge-worthy landscape art of our youth. Childhood techniques of creating art are re-imagined by the scribbles of a nostalgic, computer-assisted mind.

In the right hand, a pen can effortlessly reveal the most characteristic features of a person, inside and out. Following the twist and turn of the line, echoes of practice and repetition, the path becomes a walk through the recesses of a subconscious human mind. Total Strangers pays tribute to this time-honoured flight of the human creativity, generating a rogue’s gallery of faces from a continuous fluid line and a virtual pencil case of select drawing tools. We invite you to follow the line as it goes for a walk. Watch it unfold and give life a cast of unique characters, reflections of those around us.

Total Strangers

***Ingress*** is an immersive, interactive virtual space filled with color and lights. A visitor stands in the middle of the synthetic space with nothing to define their orientation or the interior scale. Sight direction might be an initial clue to the positioning, but as it turns out, it would be misleading. Floating, pulsating, and blending lights either close the surroundings or open it to infinity. Even though there are no restrictions in viewing direction, the visitor's position is bonded to the center. 

The feeling might be calming, or disturbing. One might find it a beautiful and peaceful surrounding for contemplation, while others will recognize reminiscences of dark video games. Some spaces might be perceived as energetic music clubs, while others will resemble temples' interiors.

Mobile rendering brings an even more powerful experience. When the device is moved, the visuals change accordingly. A small screen held in the viewer's hand turns into a discrete window allowing for some augmented voyeurism. The urge to see the hidden space makes the visitor move around, reach out and discover the ambiance. It's an opportunity of experiencing the second world, located in an unknown dimension.

Mobile devices are recommended for the most augmented and immersive experience.

Ingress

When thinking about community, we could observe the differences and things in common. There is a purpose for us to be together. It influences our behavior, identities, and choices. The diversity of shapes, colors, and combinations in this work is the metaphor for how we are connected and how these connections influence a complex web, which is represented here in this form that resembles a beehive. Bees have an enormous sense of community, a behavior essential for their survival. In this work, a single feature can radically alter the perception of form as a whole. The work contains eight possible shapes: random, stars, hexagons, triangles, arrows, trapezoids, diamonds, and flags. These shapes can be arranged following a random flow, rotating, or pointing to the center. Moreover, they can vary in size, spacing, and color. The color palettes correspond to edition groups. As a generative artwork, beauty arises from a mixture of all diversity. ***Race Condition*** is a racing game where you're flying through space at rapid speeds and see colors and shapes swoosh by. 


The game-objective is straightforward: you accelerate and try and stay on the road, if you miss a jump or a turn, you crash! The script determines the properties of your spaceship, acceleration, handling and max speed, as well as the map layout, including difficulty, color composition, and available power ups.


Once the series has been fully minted, a highscore of all the mints will be created on [racecondition.art](https://racecondition.art). The winners in each category will be awarded an additional Race Condition Winner NFT. The categories include but are not limited to fastest spaceship, most difficult level, easiest level, worst acceleration, and worst max speed.


In *Race Condition*, the winners are not determined by your driving skills, but by something outside of your control, the properties and features of your mint. Is your level more difficult than the others? Is your spaceship faster? Whether you are a winner in one of the categories is not really up to you, so enjoy the ride and race without pressure! 

**The Controls**

Shortly after loading, the spaceship will start to race the map by itself in *self-driving mode*, where it can't crash. As soon as you press a key on your keyboard, it switches to *driving mode*.

**The Levels**
Race Condition has 21 different map generating algorithms, each with their own set of challenges and difficulty rating. The algorithms take into account the playability in combination with the difficulty and try to strike a good balance between the two. Each mint gets a difficulty rating and that determines which map pool is used for the creation of the level. The easy ones requires next to zero effort whereas the hard ones require a lot of skill in driving. The Easy Medium Hard means that it can select map algorithms from the complete pool.

**The Music**
The music is generated by first selecting a scale from a set of 14 predefined ones, combined with two oscillators / synth configurations, and spread across an imaginary step-sequencer, where the hash determines which steps should be activated or not, how long the sequencer should be, what BPM it should be, and when it step into the next phase of the step-sequencer, which results in some very nice chip-tune repetitive tracks. 

**Notes**
On mobile, the spaceship accelerates automatically and you turn left/right by tilting your device. You need to grant permission for this to work, if you decline, the spaceship will drive by itself in *self-driving mode*.
