Biography

b. 1987 Quito, Ecuador Lives and works in The Hague, Netherlands

Darien Brito is an Ecuadorian audiovisual artist and creative coder based in The Hague, Netherlands. His work focuses on live performances and interactive installations using generative audio, real-time computer graphics, and light. He holds a B.A. in composition from the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague and an M.A. from the Institute of Sonology. In 2020, he was awarded a talent development grant in digital culture by the Stimuleringsfonds in The Netherlands. His work has appeared in numerous events, festivals, and publications, including Sonica, Mutek.AE, Today's Art Festival, Zentrum für Kunst und Medien (ZKM) Karlsruhe, It's Nice That, Gothenburg Opera, The Armory, Greek National Opera, Dubai World Expo, Amaze, and the Decentral Art Pavilion in Venice, Italy. In 2021, a company he co-created, Odd Publications, was nominated for the Dutch Creativity Awards for their work on generative books based on data from online social media platforms.
